Koh Lipe is a particularly small island, but that is what makes it the perfect getaway spot. Its beautiful white beaches are the main reason so many are attracted to the little location, but there’s so much more to love about it than that. Here are my top reasons for why you should visit.
1. Less Traffic
Because it’s has a pretty small area, that means there’s also less people. Over the recent years, however, the interest in the Island has been increasing. Yet it still is much less crowded and not as “touristy” as other places in Thailand such as Phuket or Phi Phi. If you are already started from one of the Phuket, there is a Phuket to KohLipe ferry available as well as from many other popular destinations.
The warm weather makes for a perfect vacation. It’s pretty consistent all year round despite the rain storms during the wet season (April through September). Don’t get discouraged by the rain though! It’s actually welcomed on the island and sometimes the temperatures can get pretty high.
3. Beautiful Beaches
The white beaches are an attraction all their own. Your vacation photos will look like the front page of a travel brochure! There are two main beaches on the island; one on the North sideand the other is on the South side. It also has some smaller beaches around for the adventurous types!
4. Cheap prices
Yes, it is still and island and everyone knows that islands are usually more costly than mainland, but KohLipe is still a relatively cheap vacation destination. It can be cheaper than most European destinations (and much better).
5. Helpful staff
The local staff on the island is usually very helpful. They are ready to answer any questions you might have and almost always speak English.
6. Full of Perfect Diving areas
Koh Lipe is pretty well-known for its wide availability of diving opportunities. If you have never done it, it’s the perfect spot to try it! The crystal clear waters make visibility incredibly high.
7. Fun on the land!
If you’re staying at one of the resorts on the island you may be tempted to relax all day at the beach outside of the hotel, but there are plenty of activities to try out on the island. The whole island is takes only a few minutes to travel by car, so walking is probably a better option as you’ll need to ferry to Koh Lipe anyway and be carless. There is so much beauty to see everywhere you go.
8. Food, Food, Food!
Get out and try some of the local food! It will be much cheaper than the western options you can find in the area and you may even like it better!
